Agile Principle 12 - Reflect and Adjust
This final Agile principle is all about continuous improvement. It admits no process is perfect from day one. Real growth comes from constantly looking at what you’re doing and changing it up. This isn’t about pointing fingers or finding blame. It’s about everyone committing to learn and get better.
Regular reflection, often called retrospectives, gives teams a dedicated space to examine their own process, how they talk, and what tools they use. What went well? What could have gone better? What can we change for the next iteration? By openly discussing these questions and making small, practical adjustments, teams systematically get better at what they do. They become more efficient, and everyone feels better about the work. This feedback loop ensures Agile isn’t some rigid rulebook. It’s a living framework that constantly tunes itself to whatever project or team it’s working with. It’s the ultimate way to “always get better.”
